Often overlooked as an important area of the home to be maintained and well-insulated is the crawl space, however this can be very important. How a crawl space should be insulated can depend upon whether it is ventilated or unventilated, as well as whether or not any ducts or pipes pass through it. If your crawlspace is unventilated and/or houses any piping or ductwork, the best option is to insulate the exterior and foundation walls of the crawlspace. Keep in mind, however, that insulation in these areas can be particularly at risk for mold, rodent, or bug infestations, so choosing the right material can be a key factor.
